We collect ethical quantities of seeds from genetically robust wild populations in the New Jersey piedmont eco-region. Locally collected seeds preserve adaptations to local conditions, including geology and climate.

Though it should never prevent someone from utilizing native plants, using less genetically local plant materials risks jeopardizing local genetic adaptations in nearby wild populations. Our goal is to offer the best-adapted species for our region, and in so doing preserve genetic diversity at the sub-species level.
Our seed collections are done primarily in New Jersey’s Somerset, Mercer, Hunterdon, and Middlesex counties; our collection zone corresponds to the federal level III seed transfer eco-region for our area.
