VIDEO – See our Public Art Mural Come to Life at Bordentown Beach – Celebrating Culture, Community and Environmental Commitment!

Learn how D&R Greenway, muralist Marlon Davila and Futuro program students from the Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund (LALDEF) collaborated to create a mural celebrating the Delaware River. You can visit the mural, found on a new storage container at Bordentown Beach where kayaks will be stored for educational programs on the 2020 “American River of the Year.”

This fall, D&R Greenway worked with students from the Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund’s FUTURO high school program to create a float for our first ever Halloween Masquerade Parade. The FUTURO students met once a week for about a month and a half to complete this project, taking advantage of the greenspace at D&R Greenway’s Conservation Campus to safely gather outside in the fresh air. When to come up with a message for their float that was a twist on the parade’s overall theme of celebrating land, they quickly decided on the phrase “We Love LAND Because it is Our Home!”. From there, the students were eager to call upon their cultural backgrounds to create a colorful display full of flowers, flags, and mythical creatures that celebrated not only the land, but also the wide diversity of people that care for it.
