Embark on a journey of discovery with our educational nature kayak trip!  Designed to blend adventure with learning, join us as we paddle through serene waters of Blacks Creek, uncover hidden ecosystems, and delve into the secrets of the great outdoors.

At the heart of our program lies a commitment to environmental awareness and conservation.  Learn about preserving fragile ecosystems for future generations. We encourage those residents who live in communities along the river to register for a trip.

Our nation’s First People and colonial founders lived alongside waterways because they provided sustenance and transportation. Explore hidden coves, lush vegetation, and Blacks Creek’s industrial history as you paddle alongside our knowledgeable instructors. Each trip will provide an enriching experience that sparks curiosity and ignites a passion for environmental stewardship.

Our kayak trips integrate discussions on birding, water quality, watersheds, and chemistry. Through education, participants develop and foster a deeper understanding of our precious waterways.

Experience the beauty of nature and the camaraderie of fellow paddlers with our certified ACA kayak guide.  

Your safety is our top priority. Before each excursion, we conduct thorough safety briefings, covering essential topics such as proper paddling techniques, safety procedures, and a warm-up. We provide each participant with a kayak and paddle, dry bag, life jacket, safety whistle, and bilge pump for every two kayaks.

All participants will be required to sign the American Canoe Association Safety Waiver.

2024 D & R Greenway Kayak Program

Liability:

Please note that kayaking can involve certain risks and potential hazards including, but not limited to, capsizing, exposure to elements and collision with another watercraft.  It is important to follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by the program staff. You will be asked to sign a Release of Liability waiver.

Rules:

• You must follow any safety warnings and/or instructions displayed or given to you by a member of staff. Ask a member of staff if you are unclear.
• Personal property belonging to you is your sole responsibility.
• You may not participate if you under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs.
• You must wear a personal flotation device when on or by the water as well as a safety whistle.
• You must always keep with your group and follow your guide’s instructions.

Cancellation Policy:

• D & R Greenway will cancel a scheduled trip due to inclement weather including lightning, heavy wind, and rain. If this should occur, your registration fee will be refunded to you. In all other instances, there is no refund available.
