D&R Greenway collects last-minute donations for Bridgewater preservation effort

Bridgewater’s 36-acre Wemple/Lang property is an important local treasure. This historic land on Foothill and Steele Gap Roads sits along routes taken by George Washington’s Continental Army throughout the American Revolution. It later was the home of William Lester Wemple, a noted public official in the early 20th century. Today the land is owned by Steven Lang, who has received subdivision approval for 15 residential lots. Mr. Lang has given us a unique opportunity to permanently preserve this land if we can raise the necessary funds in time.

Preservation of this land would add significant value to the community. The property’s forest cover, wetlands, and the fact that it is surrounded by residential development makes it desirable as a natural area and local park with trails for public access. The Wemple/Lang property is located along the Washington-Rochambaeu National Historic Trail.

The environmental and historic value of this land make its preservation vitally important to the community. Please join us in securing this land for future generations to cherish.
