Biodiversity of the Abbott Marshlands

Biodiversity of the Abbott Marshlands

Mary Allessio Leck, Emeritus Professor of Biology, Rider University will give a presentation on the incredible diversity and beauty of the Abbott Marshlands. If you haven’t hiked, biked or canoed/kayaked through this unique local wonder, make sure you attend her talk. Even if you have been taking advantage of it, here’s a great opportunity to get some deeper insights and ask questions.

Leck has had an interest in the marsh since she started doing research there in the mid-1970s. She has played a pivotal role in promoting the significance of the Marshlands as an ecological resource for research and education. Since the 1990’s she has been working with land owners and concerned community members to help to preserve and protect the marshlands. Today, the group she founded is known as the Friends for the Abbott Marshlands continues to support marsh activities.

Leck’s discussion will be complemented by Pat Coleman, President of Friends for the Abbott Marshlands, who will consider recent marsh council actions, future objectives, and how you can help further preservation of this very special place by sharing your special talents.
