Steven Dale Davis has been writing poetry since the late 1970s. His poems have been published in more than two dozen journals and he has published three full-length collections.
- Dancing Mockingbird is nature poems, with sections for mountains, bodies of water, animals, trees and other elements of nature, and visitations.
- Continental Heart is a hardcover, coffee table-style hybrid book of poems, photos, essays, and other material. The poems were written for a friend who walked across America with the Global Walk for a Livable World, one poem a week for nine months, each poem incorporating research about the landscapes in the next week of his walk.
Steven Dale Davison has published poems in more than two dozen journals. His hybrid book of poetry and images The Road to Continental Heart: Befriending, and Defending, the Spirit of North America is a 2024 Independent Press Award Distinguished Favorite in the Cross Genre category and Runner Up in the Poetry Category for the Los Angeles Book Award. His full-length book of poetry Dancing Mockingbird and a poetry chapbook O My Heart were published in the winter and spring of 2022. His full-length collection Dancing with the Moon was published in 2023. Written in both verse and prose, several of his plays have been produced. He has written both short and long fiction and has published a number of nonfiction book chapters and essays. A nonfiction book is now in development with Inner Light Books.
Point Breeze sits at the confluence of the Delaware River and Crosswicks Creek and is just south of the Abbott Marshlands. The Discovery Center at Point Breeze, which is managed by D&R Greenway Land Trust, is the historic home of Joseph Bonaparte’s gardener. We actively grow heirloom crops in one of the original garden beds and donate the produce to historic Christ Church Parish for local food distribution.
The estate acted as an American refuge for the former king of Spain and has now partly become a museum to Bonaparte and the thousands of years of history of the area. Exhibits include the Crown Jewels Gallery featuring the Audubon-Bonaparte connection, an exhibit on the Lenape, archeological displays, and a natural history room. We are currently hosting an exhibit by the Garden State Watercolor Society called “Art Without Walls”, a plein air painting collection created on site on our preserved grounds. Those who wish to tour the museum before or after the reading event are encouraged to do so. Local artists works are displayed and available for purchase.
